Benefits of Optopics

Optopics is designed to ensure that every participant can have their voice heard in a structured yet flexible manner and pioneer the future of community events. If successful, it may provide a huge boost for the Optimism Fractal community and pave the path for many other communities and organizations to also organize speaking time with Respect and Cagendas. Join us as we pilot Optopics at the next Optimism Town Hall, and let’s experience firsthand the power of structured, democratic, and dynamic discussions.

  • Dynamic Participation: Optopics empowers participants to propose and reorder discussion topics dynamically through a quadratic voting system. This flexibility ensures that our meetings adapt to the most pressing and relevant issues as they evolve, enabling us to focus on what truly matters to the community.
  • Enhanced Meeting Efficiency: By allowing community members to dynamically propose and prioritize topics, Optopics helps ensure that our meeting time is optimized. This setup helps in covering multiple topics effectively, ensuring that every meeting is as productive as possible.
  • Empowered Community Control: Through this game, respected community members can guide the flow of conversations, ensuring that discussions remain focused and aligned with the community’s interests. This control mechanism ensures that our meetings are not just discussions, but fruitful exchanges that can lead to actionable insights and decisions.
  • Technologically Inspired: Drawing inspiration from the optimistic rollup technology used in the Optimism Superchain, Optopics incorporates a similar mechanism for swift and efficient topic transitions. Well-respected community members can propose to move to the next topic, which can be vetoed by others, promoting a fast-paced, engaging, and democratic discussion environment.

Overview of Cagendas Game Modes: Original and Optopics

Cagendas offers two distinct game modes for community discussions within the Optimism ecosystem: the original Cagendas and the newer Optopics mode. Each is designed to enhance meeting dynamics in distinct ways, offering both structured and flexible approaches to community engagement.

The Original Cagendas game mode focuses on pre-event planning, where topics are proposed and voted on ahead of time to create a structured agenda that drives focused discussions. The Optopics game mode provides a more flexible, interactive, and spontaneous approach that can be played during the event itself. This enables participants to dynamically propose, reorder, and switch topics in real-time based on emerging interests.

The combination of these game modes enhances community meetings by providing both clear structure and casual adaptability. While the Original Cagendas game mode ensures that important topics are prepared and thoroughly discussed, Optopics brings in the ability to pivot with granularity as new ideas or priorities emerge during the event. This synergy helps makes meetings productive and responsive to community needs.

Comparison to Original Cagendas Game Mode

  1. Timing of Gameplay:
    • Original Cagendas: Gameplay occurs solely before the event, focusing on setting an agenda that is then followed during the event.
    • Optopics: Extends gameplay to both before and during the event, allowing real-time adjustments to the agenda based on dynamic community input and priorities.
  2. Participation Flexibility:
    • Original Cagendas: Limits participation to those who vote before the event; no formal changes to the agenda are possible once the event starts.
    • Optopics: Offers flexibility for participants to engage and modify the agenda both before and during the event, accommodating changing interests.
  3. Proposal and Voting Mechanism:
    • Original Cagendas: Proposals are fixed once submitted, and the voting concludes before the event.
    • Optopics: Allows continuous proposal submissions and voting during the event, making it more adaptive and responsive to ongoing discussions.

Overview of Benefits from Optopics

  • Dynamic and Responsive: Optopics allows for a more responsive and dynamic discussion flow that can adapt to the participants’ interests and priorities in real-time during the Town Hall.
  • Increased Accessibility and Inclusion: Newcomers or those unfamiliar with the process can observe and participate in real-time, which demystifies the process and encourages broader participation.
  • Enhanced Engagement: The ease of proposing topics in a conversational Discord chat, as opposed to a more formalized submission process, lowers barriers to participation, fostering a more lively and inclusive discussion atmosphere.
  • Empowerment Through Technology: Inspired by the optimistic rollup technology of the Optimism Superchain, Optopics allows for quick transitions in topics, facilitated by community consensus, which mirrors the technological ethos of Optimism itself.
  • Continuous Interaction: Unlike the original Cagendas, where agenda topics are fixed once the event starts, Optopics enables ongoing interaction, allowing topics to be added or reordered based on real-time feedback and discussion dynamics.

Conclusion

Optopics represents an evolutionary step in community-driven meetings, retaining the foundational elements of Cagendas while introducing enhancements that make the process more flexible, inclusive, and aligned with the spontaneous nature of productive discussions. This approach not only makes meetings more engaging but also ensures they are more reflective of the community’s immediate concerns and ideas, thereby fostering a more active and participatory community environment.

Make sure to include all key points that haven't yet been explained sufficiently in the following section that will be presented before the benefits:

**Introducing Optopics** Hello everyone! I'm thrilled to introduce **Optopics**, an innovative consensus game crafted to enrich our discussions at Optimism Town Hall. Optopics is a new Cagendas game mode that allows respected community members to propose, vote, and dynamically coordinate discussion topics during our events. Optopics leverages Respect to make community events more efficient, enjoyable, and productive. This collaborative agenda game is designed to optimize our meeting time by providing a simple structure, facilitating more interactive conversations, and helping us focus on what’s most important to the community. It’s a fun way to organize events that taps into the wisdom of our community to more effectively grow Optimism Fractal and maximize our impact for the Optimism Collective. If this topic proposal is approved, we’ll play Optopics according to the following rules during this week’s Optimism Town Hall: ## **Game Rules** The game begins at 18:00 UTC at the Optimism Town Hall. While the original Cagendas game mode enables the community to choose one topic before events, Optopics allows participants to spread voting power across multiple discussion topics both before and during events. During the event, respected participants can adjust their topic preferences in real-time to influence the discussion as the game progresses and move the group to the next topic with an optimistic topic transition system. Here’s how it works: ### Suggesting and Voting on Topics - **Suggest topics:** Starting at 17 UTC on Monday, respected community members can suggest discussion topics in the new Optimism Town Hall channel in the Optimism Fractal discord. The topic can be very simple, like a quick question or just a few words. The topic could also be more complex with detailed information and links. Feel free to suggest any topic related to Optimism Fractal or the Optimism Collective. - **Vote on Topics:** A poll will be created in the Optimism Town Hall snapshot space by 18 UTC on Wednesday and all topics that were suggested in the Discord channel will be included as options. You can allocate your Respect votes across as many topics as you’d like to influence the community’s agenda and the votes are weighted quadratically. Participants can change their votes at any point before or during the Optimism Town Hall to reflect their current interests. ### Moving to the Next Topic - **Topic Transition Rules:** 1. **Initiate Change:** Any member with at least 100 Respect can propose to switch topics by typing ‘next topic’ in the chat, triggering a one-minute countdown. 2. **Veto Option:** Any similarly respected member can veto this by typing ‘same topic’ within the minute. If vetoed, neither the proposer nor the vetoer can make the same motion for the current topic. 3. **Consensus Transition:** If there’s no veto, the discussion moves to the next highest-ranked topic on Snapshot. - **Proposing New Topics:** If at least 51% of well-respected members (with at least 100 Respect) agree, a new topic can be introduced and discussed immediately. Approval can be indicated by thumbs-up from respected members in the chat.

Benefits of Optopics and Comparison with Original Cagendas Game Mode

Enhanced Interaction and Flexibility

Optopics introduces a dynamic layer to the structured approach of Cagendas, allowing for real-time participation and adjustment of topics during the event. While the original Cagendas game mode focuses on pre-event topic selection, Optopics extends this interaction into the actual event, empowering participants to respond to the flow of discussion and adjust their priorities based on the conversation’s direction. This ensures that discussions remain relevant and engaging throughout the event, reflecting the immediate interests and concerns of the community.

Community-Driven Discussions

A key advantage of Optopics over the traditional Cagendas game mode is its emphasis on community-driven content. In Optopics, not only are topics proposed by the community, but their dynamic ordering and discussion are also controlled by the attendees in real time. This approach not only democratizes the discussion process but also makes it more inclusive, allowing for a broader range of topics and more fluid transitions between them based on community sentiment and interest.

Synergies with Respect and the Optimism Collective Vision

Optopics leverages the Respect mechanics from Optimism Fractal, integrating them into the discussion dynamics at Town Hall. This integration allows for a more strategic use of Respect, as participants can influence both the agenda setting and real-time discussion priorities. This system encourages more thoughtful participation and rewards those who actively contribute to the collective intelligence of the community.

Simplifying Participation

Optopics simplifies the process of topic suggestion and voting by integrating these activities within the familiar environment of the Optimism Fractal Discord channel. This lowers barriers to participation, making it easier for members to engage without needing to navigate external platforms or formalities. The ease of dropping a topic suggestion in chat during the event fosters a more spontaneous and organic conversation, encouraging even newcomers to take part.

Building Community and Fostering Engagement

Both Optopics and the original Cagendas game mode contribute uniquely to building community and fostering engagement. Optopics, in particular, enhances the interactive aspect of community meetings by allowing continuous input and adaptation. This not only keeps the discussion lively and pertinent but also strengthens the community's bond as members see their immediate input shaping the conversation.

Conclusion

In essence, while the original Cagendas game mode sets a foundational framework for topic selection before community events, Optopics builds on and expands this framework into a more interactive, flexible, and community-centric model. This evolution in the game mode not only aligns with but actively promotes the Optimism Collective's vision of a more equitable and participatory digital future, making every Town Hall a vibrant and dynamic event that truly reflects the will and wisdom of its community.

More concise version

Benefits of Optopics

Optopics enhances the traditional Cagendas game mode by providing structure for real-time interaction and flexibility during events. While the original Cagendas game allows the community to choose one topic before events, Optopics empowers participants to dynamically suggest and choose to discuss many topics throughout the event. This game mode makes participation easier by integrating topic suggestions within the Optimism Fractal Discord channel and enables the community to democratically create our agenda with Respect.

The original Cagendas game mode and Optopics complement each other to organize discussions, with Optopics adding a layer of joyful interactivity that encourages continuous community input and adaptation. This approach aligns with the Optimism Collective's vision by promoting a participatory digital future where community insights directly shape discussions on the Superchain and can help us create profound benefits for all at Optimism Town Hall. Comprehensive Comparison of Optopics to Original Cagendas Game Mode

Optopics introduces several key enhancements to the original Cagendas game mode, each designed to improve the flexibility, inclusivity, and dynamism of community meetings within the Optimism Town Hall. Here’s a detailed comparison of the two modes:

1. Gameplay Timing

  • Original Cagendas: Gameplay is restricted to the pre-event phase, where participants propose and vote on topics that form a fixed agenda for the upcoming meeting. Once the event begins, the agenda cannot be altered, which limits the ability to adapt to new insights or shifts in community interest.
  • Optopics: Extends gameplay across both pre-event and during-event phases. This dual-phase approach allows for initial planning and continuous adjustment of the agenda based on real-time feedback and discussions. It accommodates shifting priorities and emerging topics, making the meeting more relevant and engaging.

2. Participation and Accessibility

  • Original Cagendas: Participation is primarily front-loaded, requiring members to contribute before the event. This setup may exclude those unable to engage during the pre-event phase, potentially sidelining valuable contributions.
  • Optopics: Encourages ongoing participation, allowing members to propose and vote on topics even during the event. This real-time engagement is particularly beneficial for newcomers or those who were unable to participate in the initial planning phase, ensuring that all voices can be heard and can influence the discussion agenda actively.

3. Voting and Decision Dynamics

  • Original Cagendas: Once voting concludes prior to the event, the agenda is set and static. This can sometimes lead to discussions that may not reflect the most current views or information available to the community.
  • Optopics: Implements a dynamic voting system where participants can adjust their preferences throughout the event. This flexibility ensures that the discussion remains aligned with the participants' interests and that emergent consensus can guide the meeting’s focus.

4. Topic Proposal Flexibility

  • Original Cagendas: Topic proposals are formal and must be submitted ahead of the event, requiring a certain level of preparation and foresight which can be a barrier to spontaneous topic introduction.
  • Optopics: Simplifies the proposal process by allowing topics to be suggested informally during the event, typically via a chat interface. This lowers barriers to participation, encouraging more spontaneous and organic discussion topics that reflect the real-time interests of attendees.

5. Interactive and Community-Driven Features

  • Original Cagendas: While it organizes the agenda effectively, it lacks mechanisms for real-time interaction which can make adapting to community sentiment during the event challenging.
  • Optopics: Introduces features like the optimistic proposal system, where topics can be swiftly changed unless vetoed by other participants, mirroring the technological innovation of optimistic rollups. This not only makes meetings more agile but also more engaging and responsive to participant feedback.

6. Welcoming to Newcomers

  • Original Cagendas: New participants might find the pre-event focused structure rigid or difficult to engage with if they are unfamiliar with the process.
  • Optopics: By allowing real-time topic proposals and votes, Optopics is more welcoming to newcomers who can observe and participate without needing a deep understanding of the process beforehand. It facilitates a learning-by-participating environment, which can be more inclusive and encouraging for new community members.

Conclusion

Optopics enhances the original Cagendas game mode by integrating flexibility in agenda setting, increasing accessibility for broader community participation, and incorporating real-time decision-making capabilities. These improvements make Optopics a more adaptive, inclusive, and dynamic tool for community engagement and discussion facilitation within the Optimism ecosystem.

Shorter summary that introduces these cagendas game modes and explains how they compare, contrasts, and synergize

Introduction to Cagendas Game Modes: Original and Optopics

Cagendas, a pivotal game in the Optimism community, has evolved to include two distinct modes: the original Cagendas and the newly introduced Optopics. Each mode is designed to optimize community discussions but in slightly different ways, creating a synergistic effect that enhances overall meeting productivity and inclusivity.

Comparison and Contrast of Game Modes

  1. Timing of Gameplay:
    • Original Cagendas focuses solely on pre-event planning. Participants propose and vote on topics before the event, setting a clear agenda that guides the entire discussion.
    • Optopics extends the interactive element into the event itself, allowing for ongoing topic proposals and voting, adapting the discussion flow in real-time based on community interest.
  2. Participation Dynamics:
    • Original Cagendas provides a structured environment where the agenda is fixed once the event starts, which helps in maintaining focus and depth in discussions.
    • Optopics introduces a dynamic participation model where members can alter their topic preferences during the event, fostering greater engagement and responsiveness to the discussion's direction.
  3. Proposal Flexibility:
    • Original Cagendas requires formal topic submissions prior to the meeting, encouraging well-thought-out contributions that are conducive to detailed discussions.
    • Optopics allows for casual topic suggestions through a chat interface during the meeting, lowering barriers for participation and inviting a broader range of topics.

Synergistic Benefits

The synergy between the original Cagendas and Optopics leverages the strengths of both structured pre-planning and flexible, real-time discussion adaptation. This blend ensures that while meetings are well-organized and goal-oriented thanks to the original game mode, they also remain adaptable and inclusive, accommodating new insights and participant feedback as the conversation unfolds, as facilitated by Optopics.

By combining these approaches, the community benefits from having a clear direction and focus while retaining the ability to pivot as new ideas or priorities emerge during the meeting. This hybrid model not only enhances the productivity of each session but also ensures that discussions are both comprehensive and reflective of the community’s immediate interests and needs.

Transcripts and Summary

Refined Transcript

Here is the reformatted transcript with markdown headers and speaker labels:

Introduction

Speaker 1: Okay, so just two points of feedback is that Op-topics is a game mode of Cagendas, not a new Cagendas game. Right. And then there should also be a section about how this is different from the current form of Cagendas, that's also what Rosemary was asking as well. And one major reason why it's different is because Cagendas original game mode only has a gameplay before the event, whereas it has gameplay both before the event and during the event as well. and then I can also list out other benefits. But anyway, you're reading it, so feel free to add anything else there. I'm curious to hear your thoughts.

Benefits of Optopics

Speaker 2: All right, so when you're saying during the, the main part is how it can be applied during the event, because people who are voting who have not voted on either can also vote on the, during the event if they did not vote on a prior, correct?

Speaker 1: That's true, yeah.

Speaker 2: Okay, so that's another advantage. 'Cause gender is completely before, And this one over here is people who did not vote prior have the ability to vote during.

Speaker 1: Yeah.

Ease of Participation

Speaker 1: And then also another benefit of this too, and a unique aspect is that it's kind of like a step to go to Snapshot and then make a topic and you might feel like, oh, I have to make a good topic, I have to work on some of this.

Speaker 1: Whereas here's me in a Discord chat, it's gonna be conversational. So it's very easy for people to just post topics easily. So you're giving people the option, number one, to propose the topic beforehand, but many many people have not, and you have proven record that they have not. So this is giving them a second option to propose a topic. And it's making it easier, yeah, and it's doing it in the form of a chat rather than having to go out to somewhere else and make it like a whole.

Speaker 2: Correct. And they don't have to go out of their way, they're actually doing it while they're there. Which makes it simplified and easier access for them.

Speaker 1: Yeah, in the Discord chat. Right. So that actually is the biggest advantage. And then people could like ask and like come up with a topic together like somebody be like oh Maybe we should discuss this and then that could inspire me aspect Oh, yes discuss this about this right and also because of the up topics It's also creating more conversation within the community at the time of the event because everybody has the ability to vote on the actual topic

Welcoming Newcomers

Speaker 2: In other words like yeah, that's hand-hold right now Now, just say you have three people that have voted on Cajenas and you have three other people who are actually new to the community and they really didn't vote on Cajenas because number one, they're not aware of it, they have no clue on it. So this year, those three people can sit back and see exactly what the other three who know what they're doing and say, "Well, wait. Now I get it. So now there's a topic I would like and I'm going to add that to see." It may not be the top one, but at least they're given a floor to say the topic they would like to have at the time of the event?

Speaker 1: Well, the way that-- It's based on respect, granted, which means that their event won't go so high, but they still have the ability to do it, to suggest the topic. Mm-hmm. Right?

Respected Members Can Guide Topics

Speaker 2: Yeah. Granted, if it was somebody that was brand new, and you, and Tadas, and Rosemarie, and Hadlon suggest the topics because of your respect levels, your topics are going to go first. But at least you know that you hear their topics. Or you can actually say that's an awesome topic, and you four can agree that's a good topic. Let's go there.

Speaker 1: Yeah, so one of the rules, I don't know if you got to it, is that if over half of the well-respected community members decide to choose a topic, then they can just skip to that kind of stuff and know where it goes. So anybody can sort of close the topic during the meeting.

Interactive Gameplay

Speaker 2: OK, yeah, I'm getting there now. No, if you explain the exact difference between the two, because the way I'm getting it now, it's more interactive play and voting at the time of the event as opposed to prior to the event. But also more interactive prior to the event as well.

Speaker 2: Right, but I'm saying the main thing is the interactive-- because people that are new are not going to go prior. So this is more welcoming for new people, is what I'm trying to point out.

Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's also more like, for example, maybe Hanlon or Abraham or Rosemary, somebody who's there a lot, might like, they can be more expressive basically. Like they don't have to like, you know, it's kind of awkward, like raise your hand and be like, "Yeah, I think we should move on to the next topic. This is boring."

Speaker 1: But this just gives them a way to just quickly, easily say next topic.

Speaker 2: Right, and they can say next topic in the chat then, right? They don't have to say it out loud.

Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the rules.

Summary of Benefits

Speaker 2: It's good, but I think the main clarity and the main benefits, you've got to maybe put down a list of benefits why this is really good. And I know you have it written down, but I would do a benefit bullet point at the very end, like a quick summary of what you're trying to say, because this is longer and it's getting a little lost. But at the end, I would say, in overview, this is the main benefit for it. These are the main reasons why we're doing this. And it's also very, very welcome for newcomers. So that's the one thing I would add in there, because that makes it appear that you're trying something for a specific reason. I mean, reasons to get a better voting, yeah, but at the same time make newcomers welcome, because you get a lot of newcomers. And this is just literally an additional way to welcome them, that they have a voice.

Speaker 2: And I do like the octopus. And it's also encouraging a lot of participation with it too. So it's another benefit. And it also makes it more active in the chats before going into the event and kind of stealing a discussion like, "Hey, what are our base priorities? What should we discuss?" It makes it more like an active involvement. It's inviting more conversation and more participation. That's what it's doing and that's very good. So those are your benefits.

Comparison to Original Mode

Speaker 2: I think at the very end here, I'm reading it now here, but I like the idea of doing an overview summary at the end of the benefits. Well, there are some of the... Like I would say, because gender does... There's other ones... I know, but you see you're reading it, but you can say, because gender does this, this, and this. We want to take it one step up. I can say like the original or traditional or basic, I don't know, basic game mode or or like default game mode agendas does this, this, and this. But this game mode does this, this, and this.

Speaker 2: And we want to add the extra play feature where it's, and you give the reasons. It's more welcome for newcomers. It actually gives people who haven't had a chance to do a pre-vote. Many people are busy, so it's respecting their time that you're allowing them again to have that second option to vote some place, second or third. I think that part's good, and I think the bullet point, think would really help.

Refining the Draft

Speaker 1: Yeah because it's very long the explanation is long I would definitely do the build. I mean it needs to be long I understand but I think you should have a quick summary of what this all is. Just do a bullet point in the bottom or in the top or okay well I would probably do the bullet points on the top first. I think that you're further than you need to be so it ended at here. Okay. Is the way that I have it like sold out. But this is also still a draft too so for example I could get rid of like this part or this part. It's still fairly early but as far as and those are some benefits but I can also use some of the benefits that we came up with.

Speaker 2: Right. Because a lot of this I had written down like ideas and then I work with AI and AI generated but I have to like refine it down to what it's supposed to be.

Speaker 1: Well maybe you can define what we just said to what you had, maybe they can get a lot shorter. Which is why I'm recording this too, because there are some unique benefits that we can apply.

Speaker 2: Well I think the biggest thing is to show the difference between the two and why one enhances the other. That's the main thing. You know, Optopox is actually an enhancement on Cajenidus. But at the same time too though, the original game mode for Cajenidus is important and has its own benefits.

Advantages of Op-Topics

Speaker 1: Right, right. That's what I said, it's just an enhancement. work unless you have the original game and the game of [inaudible] >> That's why you have enhancement.

Speaker 2: To choose to play this game because there are sometimes you want to just say, "Hey, this is the topic for today." And with the original content, you can do that. You don't want to be able to have to like switch between topics all the time.

Speaker 2: And the other thing is if the topic that you initially decide to vote on, if it's discussed and agreed upon very quickly, then you need another topic.

Speaker 1: Yeah.

Speaker 2: So that's to continue a conversation, to continue the continue the medium going, this will actually provide that. So that's another advantage. So if you have a topic that you choose, and that topic is resolved within five minutes, you need your next topic. So this is helping you provide with your next topic, and so forth, and your topic after that or whatever. So I think that's good. And then it could be like a topic rotation, it can help that.

Conclusion

Speaker 2: Yeah, sure. I would like to see it after. Like I said, I think just the benefits and the comparison as to why the enhancement actually helps for everything. To me it's more welcoming, number one. And number two, it really makes it easier for people that have limited time. They don't have the time to stop in the middle of the week and vote on this. And they only have the time to make a meeting. during that meeting, they're getting the same access and ability to participate as if they had done it beforehand. So it's a feature of basically that's addressing and respecting people's time. That's what it is.

Speaker 2: Another thing about it too is that it organizes people's time better and gives people an easier way to express what they want to say during the meeting. Because a lot of times people want to discuss something and like you don't know how people feel about it. Like maybe somebody's like "oh I don't care that I'm sure that topic" maybe one person asks a question and then you answer it but then four other people are like "uh whatever". So it allows people to like very easily express their opinion in a way that's like smooth and easy for them to do and well structured

Speaker 2: And that makes it, and then another thing I have here too is that, like this game is going to start promptly at 18 UTC.

Speaker 1: Right. So like last week for example, I wanted to talk about another topic that was interesting, but it was another topic that was outside of the scope of agendas. So this is like you start right at 18 UTC, and then from then on it's up to the community to express what they want to talk about. So I don't want to talk too much about some different topic and so forth, and at any point if somebody is getting bored with something then they can say no. know but it's also kind of fun because if somebody says like next topic and somebody can veto it and I'd be like no same topic same topic right it goes by with what the community wants if the one person says video and for people say no we want to talk about this then the person's overruled.

Closing Thoughts

Speaker 2: Yes, it made sense. But I said it would make more sense if I saw the bullet points first and then the clarification below These are the benefits the benefits of clarified below. I think that would make more sense We're introduced you know introduce that you like what kind of way you have it you have introducing this and then you write the benefits So I would just enhance the benefits and make them a little bit clearer.

Speaker 1: Okay, so the benefits but but as far as the Game rules the game rules are fine. That's all that makes sense and the introduction you think is pretty good, too

Speaker 2: Yes, I think I think the benefits part has to be clear as to why okay in other words You know like Rosemary said and I said shoot. Why would you do this? You just need to clear clear that So no one asked that question. Why would you do this? Okay, because in the benefits you're explaining why it's being done

Original Transcript

Okay, so just two points of feedback is that Op-topics is a game mode of Kajenda, not a new Kajenda's game. Right. And then there should also be a section about how this is different from the current form of Kajenda, that's also what Rosemary was asking as well. And one major reason why it's different is because Kajenda's original game mode only has a gameplay before the event, whereas it has gameplay both before the event and during the event as well. and then I can also list out other benefits. But anyway, you're reading it, so feel free to add anything else there. I'm curious to hear your thoughts. - All right, so when you're saying during the, the main part is how it can be applied during the event, because people who are voting who have not voted on either can also vote on the, during the event if they did not vote on a prior, correct? - That's true, yeah. - Okay, so that's another advantage. 'Cause gender is completely before, And this one over here is people who did not vote prior have the ability to vote during. - Yeah. - Okay. - And then also another benefit of this too, and a unique aspect is that it's kind of like a step to go to Snapshot and then make a topic and you might feel like, oh, I have to make a good topic, I have to work on some of this. - And this you do-- - Whereas here's me in a Discord chat, it's gonna be conversational. Correct. And they don't have to go out of their way, they're actually doing it while they're there. Which makes it simplified and easier access for them. Yeah, in the Discord chat. Right. So that actually is the biggest advantage. And then people could like ask and like come up with a topic together like somebody be like oh Maybe we should discuss this and then that could inspire me aspect Oh, yes discuss this about this right and also because of the up topics It's also creating more conversation within the community at the time of the event because everybody has the ability to vote on the actual topic In other words like yeah, that's hand-hold right now Now, just say you have three people that have voted on Cajenas and you have three other people who are actually new to the community and they really didn't vote on Cajenas because number one, they're not aware of it, they have no clue on it. So this year, those three people can sit back and see exactly what the other three who know what they're doing and say, "Well, wait. Now I get it. So now there's a topic I would like and I'm going to add that to see." It may not be the top one, but at least they're given a floor to say the topic they would like to have at the time of the event? Well, the way that-- It's based on respect, granted, which means that their event won't go so high, but they still have the ability to do it, to suggest the topic. Mm-hmm. Right? Yeah. Yeah, so one of the rules, I don't know if you got to it, is that if over half of the well-respected community members decide to choose a topic, then they can just skip to that kind of stuff and know where it goes. So anybody can sort of close the topic during the meeting. OK, yeah, I'm getting there now. No, if you explain the exact difference between the two, because the way I'm getting it now, it's more interactive play and voting at the time of the event as opposed to prior to the event. But also more interactive prior to the event as well. Right, but I'm saying the main thing is the interactive-- because people that are new are not going to go prior. So this is more welcoming for new people, is what I'm trying to point out. Yeah, and it's also more like, for example, maybe Hanlon or Abraham or Rosemary, somebody who's there a lot, might like, they can be more expressive basically. Like they don't have to like, you know, it's kind of awkward, like raise your hand and be like, "Yeah, I think we should move on to the next topic. This is boring." - Right. - But this just gives them a way to just quickly, easily say next topic. - Right, and they can say next topic in the chat then, right? They don't have to say it out loud. - Yeah, that's the rules. - Okay. (gentle music) It's good, but I think the main clarity and the main benefits, you've got to maybe put down a list of benefits why this is really good. And I know you have it written down, but I would do a benefit bullet point at the very end, like a quick summary of what you're trying to say, because this is longer and it's getting a little lost. Summary of Discussion on Optopics

During a discussion about the new Optopics game mode for the Optimism Town Hall, several key points were raised regarding how it modifies and enhances the original Cagendas game mode. Speakers highlighted the differences, benefits, and potential for increased engagement through the Optopics mode.
