What are Optimism Fractal Events?
The Optimism Fractal community hosts weekly events featuring the Respect Game, an onchain social game that provides many profound benefits. The event starts with a brief introductory presentation at 17 UTC and then play the Respect Game for about 45 minutes.
How to Play the Respect Game
- Forming Groups: Participants are divided into randomized groups of three to six.
- Sharing Contributions: Each player has up to 4 minutes to share their recent contributions to the Optimism, such as creating content, inviting friends, or building software.
- Ranking Contributions: After all participants present, the group ranks each contribution by ‘Who did the most to help Optimism’ in the Fractalgram app. This app is a Telegram client where the group can facilitate the voting via polls for each level (starting with Level 6 as the highest). The group has to reach at least two-thirds consensus for each level before continuing to the next.
- Signaling Consensus: When consensus on rankings is reached, follow the instructions in Fractalgram to submit consensus results onchain. A consensus is needed with at least two-thirds consensus on the rankings for all participants in the group to earn Respect.
- Earning Respect: Respect points are awarded based on rankings and each level gets about 60% more than the prior level. The top contributor gets 55 Respect (Level 6), second gets 34 Respect (Level 5), third gets 21 Respect (Level 4), fourth gets 13 Respect (Level 3), fifth gets 8 Respect (Level 2), and sixth gets 5 Respect (Level 1)
- Repeat Participation: The Respect Game is played each week, providing you with a place to share your latest contributions, earn more Respect, and unlock special powers in the community!
