Document current issues and opportunities for improvement with Cagendas and OPTOPICS

Document current issues and opportunities for improvement with Cagendas and OPTOPICS

rationale

This could be a big value add for OF and OTH to create big impact when help us earn more in retro funding

This mechanics could be reused for many other types of group voting, Ie on retro funding projects or metrics

This could help us make better shows and events that are more enjoyable and effective

This can be also used by Eden fractal and all other communities

UX issues

It seems to be too complex in the current iteration

There’s not much engagement in topic proposing or suggesting yet

It takes a long time to explain and sometimes even get confused about how it works

It’d not stable yet and changes from week to week

I like both the cagendas and Optopics brands, but it might confuse people to have two game names

the original rules of Cagendas are very simple and easy to explain/understand, but they are limited in that they only allow one topic to be chosen and

technical issues

Snapshot currently doesn’t enable seeing the amount of votes at a certain time unless the poll ends at that time. This doesn’t work with the current implementation of cagendas and the predictability of topic selection on mondays

  • Figure out how to See Votes at a Certain Time in Snapshot with Snapshot API and/or The GraphFigure out how to See Votes at a Certain Time in Snapshot with Snapshot API and/or The Graph

Snapshot doesn’t seem to allow you to rank order multiple polls in a space or allocate a limited amount of weight across polls. This means that either everyone can reuse their votes across all polls (which gives excessive power to people with more respect) or one person needs to create a singe poll to allow people to allocate a limited amount of votes across topics, which requires action from one person, requires a poll to be created at a certain time which makes it inflexible for topic suggestions after that time, and limits interactivity on the platform . Respond or DM David Phelps about jokerace demo - Sounds fascinating! I host three game shows a week and am interested in using JokeRace. Is there a video recording of this demo?

solutions

Further writing this documentation page will helP A lot so I can see all the issues in one place

Try linking the previous pages here as well so it can reference related research

JokeRace may solve these. Think about how it’s used by Diana Chen for the podcast where anyone can suggest a guest and then vote on the guest- I think we could use a similar mechanic for topics that jokerace allows and isn’t possible on snapshot

It’s also possible that tally could solve these and it’s prob worth trying it as well, though jokerace seems preferable

Ask in the snapshot discord

If jokerace or tally don’t work out of the box, Create a product requirement document and share it with the discord/telegrAm Of snapshot/ jokerace/ tally to see if they know how to make it work or what custom dev would be required
