Decentralizing Base with the OP Stack and Optimism

Tl;DR We believe that decentralization is critical to an open cryptoeconomy. That’s why we will be deploying Base as the second L2 on the open-source OP Stack, following Optimism Mainnet, and joining as the second core developer of the OP Stack to accelerate that decentralized future. We’re excited to collaborate with OP Labs and the Optimism Collective to build on our shared vision for scaling Ethereum via a robust, interoperable web3 ecosystem that can onboard the next billion users into web3.

Base’s Commitment to Decentralization with the Superchain

TL;DR: Base is an open, permissionless Ethereum L2 incubated at Coinbase with a commitment to decentralization. Base was built on the open source OP Stack in collaboration with the Optimism Collective, and together, we are working toward improved decentralization using the Law of Chains as our guide. This commitment includes routing a portion of Base sequencer revenue to the Optimism Collective and actively participating in governance.

Base is part of the Optimism Superchain and impact made on Base is eligible for earning RetroPGF. I think it makes more sense to post the results on Base because it’s just as eligible for RetroPGF as the OP Mainnet and building on Base would be supporting the Superchain in a new way, which allows the Superchain to support us in new ways as well.
