By the way, I just realized that the Optimism Collective is accepting nominations for the Grants Council until June 5th. This is a part time position for a job to review Mission submissions throughout Season 6 and help allocate funding to grow Optimism. It’s historically been quite a well paid position and good opportunity to collaborate with talented builders in the Collective. You can learn more and apply here if you are interested.
Last season I applied and received over 5 million OP in votes from delegates, but just missed the

What types of Mission Requests do you think will help achieve the Season 6 Intents?:
Mission Requests that attract builders and innovators to Optimism will help achieve the Season 6 Intents. The Superchain is poised for exponential growth and Optimism is well positioned to bring billions of people onchain. In order to maximize our impact we should focus on Mission Requests that progress towards decentralization, bring chains to the Superchain, and attract application devs to the Superchain.
Some specific types of Mission Requests that I believe will be especially helpful to support include:
- Applications for decentralized coordination and collective governance
- Tooling that enables the Optimism Collective to more effectively reward public goods creators in Retro Funding
- Technical Primitives Optimism that unlock novel use cases and aid builders across the Superchain
- Account abstraction and UX accessibility infrastructure to make it easier for developers to build amazing apps
Intent 1: Progress Towards Decentralization
The Collective must continue to make progress towards its core value proposition to provide resilient, decentralized, scalable compute. This includes both technical and organizational decentralization – including work to improve fault provability, upgrade processes, governance execution, the development ecosystem, and governance processes of the Collective.
Intent 2: Bring Chains to the Superchain
The Collective continues to focus on the growth of the Superchain, a network of OP Chains building together. OP Chains on the Superchain contribute revenue back to the Optimism Collective, and share in the Collective’s security, governance-approved upgrades, retroactive public goods funding, and ecosystem support. The complete list of Chains considered to be part of the Superchain is defined in the Superchain Registry.
Intent 3: Grow application devs on the Superchain
In addition to bringing new chains to the Superchain, the Collective also aims to grow application developers across all OP Chains in the Superchain.
Developer growth and consumer growth are two parts of the flywheel that drive network usage for the Collective. But rather than focus on consumer growth in Season 6, Optimism is focused on developer growth – bootstrapping the supply side of this market to support developers across the globe in building valuable, demand-generating applications on any OP Chain in the Superchain.
