Starting the Presentation and Recording at 17:05 UTC
I debated between starting a presentation at 17:00 UTC or 17:05 UTC. I decided to start the presentation and recording at 17:05 UTC for several reasons:
- Flexibility for Attendees: Starting at 17:05 UTC allows attendees who might be busy right until the top of the hour to join without rushing. It also accommodates those who are typically a few minutes late, ensuring more attendees are present when the presentation begins.
- Pre-Presentation Relaxation: The five-minute window before the official start provides a casual, off-the-record time for attendees to settle in, chat, and relax. This helps transition into the presentation mode more smoothly.
- Clarity and Punctuality: A countdown timer will be set to start at 17:05 UTC to prevent early start of discussions and to maintain clarity on the schedule. This approach ensures punctuality while allowing a brief period for late arrivals.
- Importance of First Impressions for New Attendees: Starting the presentation with introductory information at 17:05 UTC is more likely to capture the attention of new attendees who may join a few minutes late. This ensures they receive key information.
The decision to start the presentation at 17:05 UTC, instead of 17:00 UTC, is made to improve the overall experience by creating a more relaxed and inclusive atmosphere, accommodating slight delays, and ensuring key information is communicated effectively to all attendees. The writer considers this a significant improvement and decides to implement it without further consultation, believing it aligns with what the community would prefer.
Create Intro video clip?
Consider producing an introduction to optimism fractal video clip and hypertext linking it near the top of OptimismFractal.com
- If there was an introductory video clip then i wouldn’t need to say as much to introduce Optimism Fractal at the beginning of each event
- Instead, I could say less and mention that you can learn more in this video clip
- I could potentially just cut my intro from OF 11 or make a similar kind of intro for this purpose
- Idk if it’s worth it now. I still want to provide key details for those who are watching OF or EF meetings
Review Reflections from OF 11
I just listened to OF 11 and have a few reflections:
- The intro was too long. It was over 6 minutes. It was mostly good but there was too much information at some points. I could imagine it a bit overwhelming for viewers and quite repetitive for frequent participants. I think i should aim to make the intro 5 minutes or less and be timely about this.
- The intro is repetitive for frequent participants and the timing is unpredictable, so I should make sure to respect their time by starting the presentation sooner.
- If i start the presentation at exactly 17:05 and start the respect game at exactly 17:10 utc then participants can know when to join and make it work better for their schedules.
- If they’re a frequent participant then they don’t need to hear my presentation and could join at 17:10 to save 10 minutes in their day. That makes it more enjoyable and much better for them overall
- I just wrote a lot more comparing starting the presentation about why i think it’s best to start
